During CES 2025, Alex was able to talk to Nvidia’s Bryan Catanzaro, the vice president of Applied Deep Learning Research, about the company’s upcoming GPU technologies.
-Catanzaro explained that the company is planning to revise itsDLSS technology, including the transformer model Super Resolution and Ray Reconstruction, for even better performance than previous generations.
The RTX 50-series cards will also feature up to 4x multi-frame generation, though Alex notes that the specific hardware deep learning tricks Catanzaro discussed will likely be exclusive to Nvidia, and not broad industry standards like some of Nvidia’s previous hardware intros.
The pair also discussed the possibility of AI creating hackless cheat codes or clipping forwards in games to dramatic outcomes, but Catanzaro noted significant research was required for these applications.
Lastly, Nvidia is considering new forms of AI semiconductor design and robust micropacking, while also planning a backend upgrade to its NVLink interconnect fabric.
