Summary
Developersisers has created a version of GTA 3 for the Sega Dreamcast console, building the game using a reverse-engineered and rebuilt version of the Rockstar game engine, according to Digital Foundry.
While the Dreamcast was discontinued before the first release of GTA 3 on the PlayStation 2, this new version looks “very impressive”, according to John Bansleben in a new DF Retro video.
Players can fight through the streets of Liberty City in DC resolutions up to 3.4GB, with 30fps and 25.4mbps, and HD resolutions up to 2.8GB, with 60fps and 20.9mpbs.
Audio options include AC3 2.0 audio at 320kbps and 48kHz.
Developersisers is also planning a DPAD peripheral, to mimic the PS2’s analogue controls.
