Doom: The Dark Ages is surprisingly playable on the Steam Deck

Summary
Despite the Steam Deck’s portable nature, some modern games are not compatible with the device’s hardware, due to being too advanced for the machine.
Valve has recently released a new SteamOS update, however, which enables the steam deck to run the Doom: The Dark Ages video game at a steady 30-40 frames per second, although not at the top resolution the device is capable of.
This is still impressive for hardware of the Steam Deck’s age and specs, and indicates that future updates could further improve the device’s compatibility with more modern games.
Moreover, considering the device only costs $1000 to buy, the Steam Deck offers remarkable value as a (admittedly lower-performance) portable alternative to a high-end desktop gaming PC.
