Valve takes another step toward making SteamOS a true Windows competitor
1 min read
Summary
Valve is expanding its Steam operating system, SteamOS, to other handheld PCs, starting with some versions of the Asus ROG Ally.
As such, Valve is updating the Steam storefront to show whether games are compatible with SteamOS.
Over 18,000 titles will be marked as SteamOS compatible, given that Valve’s Steam Deck handheld console can already run about 90% of Steam’s games.
Compatibility with SteamOS is achieved through Proton, a collection of app translation technologies that allow unmodified Windows applications to run on SteamOS.
Some titles may have some serious compatibility issues that keep them from running as intended.
