Epic goes to court to force Fortnite back on US iOS

Summary
Epic Games has submitted a motion to the District Court of California, seeking to force Apple to allow its Fortnite game to return to the iOS App Store ahead of its rivals.
The games developer had previously used an account for its Swedish arm to get around Apple’s rules, after the EU ruled in its favour, allowing the use of external payment processors.
However, Apple rejected the submission and suggested submitting a different version for the US, but Epic said this was against Apple’s guidelines.
Apple has been increasingly scrutinised over its control of its app store, with regulators in the US and elsewhere pushing for the company to loosen its grip and allow developers to use payment options outside of Apple or Google’s systems.
The legal rulings could significantly change the economics of apps, with Apple’s taking up to a 30% fee for in-app purchases.
