Summary
Microsoft has released details of its new Xbox handheld gaming device, created in partnership with Asus and built on the Windows 11 operating system.
The device will feature an “aggregated gaming library” that provides access to a huge array of games via multiple different Windows-based launchers.
It will also include an Xbox-focused interface that offers users an immersive gaming experience, and provides access to support apps including Discord and Twitch.
Microsoft is also developing a programme to identify Windows titles that have been optimised for handheld devices.
The device will provide competition for gaming giants such as the Steam Deck, which has faced challenges with titles that do not play well with Steam and Linux.
