The PlayStation VR2 will get a drastic price cut, but that might not be enough

Summary
Gaming giant Sony has slashed the prices of its virtual reality (VR) headsets in a bid to shift stock, and boost interest and sales in its headsets.
In March, the PSVR 2 will drop from 550to400 in the US, with corresponding cuts in Europe and the UK, and a slight tweak for Japan, where pricing will fall to 66,980 yen.
The price cut may also boost interest in the headset in the US, where it lags behind the PC VR market.
Sony has suffered from weak software support since the headset launched in early 2023, with the non-backwards compatibility of the device also limiting its appeal.
Sony stopped production of the devices shortly after their launch due to poor sales, with the company unable to move inventory.
The VR market more broadly has also slowed recently, with much of the action left to Meta’s Quest platform.
