Summary
The Video Game History Foundation has launched a library comprising more than 30,000 indexed files relating to the video game industry over the past 50 years.
The files include high-quality artwork, promotional material, and archives of over 1,500 video game magazines, as well as never-before-seen archival material on game development and production.
Access is unrestricted and free, which has led to overloaded servers on the launch day.
Nevertheless, the foundation’s head librarian said in a blog post that the foundation wants to encourage academics, journalists and anyone else interested in video game history to use the library to research and supplement their resources.
The foundation will also continue to digitise its physical archives to add to the library.
