Summary
Popular chat and communications platform Discord is reportedly planning an initial public offering (IPO) this year, having already held talks with advisors.
It is said to have begun exploratory meetings with bankers this month, and giants JP Morgan Chase and Goldman Sachs are reportedly on board to help organise the IPO.
This would mean the company is going with a more traditional route to public offering, having explored the option of a direct listing back in 2022.
Discord, which was launched in 2015, initially targeted the video gaming industry, and this still makes up 90% of its activity.
The app offers a range of communication tools including text, voice and video chat, as well as streaming.
It has also built out a range of developer APIs for bots and tools to be used within its growing communities.
