Nintendo’s new system for sharing digital Switch games, explained

Summary
Nintendo is introducing a system that will enable Switch players to share their digital game libraries in a manner similar to how physical card gamers share titles.
Called “virtual game cards”, the feature is being rolled out in late April and will facilitate the loading and ejecting of digital games via a specific management screen.
Once ejected, a game cannot be played on the original console, but it can be loaded onto another console where any logged-in user can play it without restriction.
An internet connection is required for the initial loading and ejecting, but the game can subsequently be played offline.
Virtual game cards can be shared on two consoles only, but the feature will also be available for consoles within a Nintendo Switch “family group” account, but only one game at a time can be shared and the lending period is limited to two weeks.
