Nintendo isn’t using anti-drift Hall effect sensors on Switch 2 joysticks

Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Product Development & Publishing Nate Bihldorff has confirmed that the new Switch 2 won’t use magnetic Hall effect sensors, despite the fact that these offer greater durability and are less prone to stick drift.
Instead, Nintendo has chosen to go with redesigned controllers that “feel really good” but offer no detailed technical specifications.
When asked about the potential for stick drift on the new consoles, like that experienced by the original Joy-Cons, technical director Tetsuya Sasaki and other Nintendo representatives have been vague, referring to “dive into [the] whole blueprint” of the control stick to explain their reluctance to disclose specifics.
Bihldorff’s comments, meanwhile, focus on the improved “durability” of the controllers rather than their resistance to the kind of wear-and-tear that causes the stick drift problem.
