Summary
He Is Coming is a roguelite from Chronocle and published by Hooded Horse, which is clearly inspired by the 1980s gaming scene
The player controls a knight who battles enemies and collects upgrades to get stronger ahead of an oncoming timer, when a harder boss will spawn.
Notwithstanding the humorous tone of the preview, the game does appear to have a compelling meta progression mechanic, whereby real progression is made between runs.
Rock Paper Shotgun’s Huston Smitty sums it up thus: “A long-forgotten enemy rises and brings portents of doom – the Demon King is coming, and without a champion to strike him down, the world will surely fall to his corruption.
Seek out powerful weapons and artifacts by day, stand against his minions by night, and prepare to be hunted by powerful entities from ages past in this roguelite role-playing game.”.
