Summary
Gaming industry publication Rock Paper Shotgun (RPS) has reported that although Remedy’s Halloween-themed thriller Alan Wake 2, released in 2023, had recouped its development and marketing expenses, it was still in deficit overall.
However, the latest financial report from Remedy shows that the game has now sold over 2 million copies and is generating royalties for the studio for the first time.
The game’s September 2023 add-on, The Lake House, and releases of physical console versions have been successful in boosting sales.
RPS also noted that Remedy’s other projects, including FBC: Firebreak (due this year), Control 2, and Max Payne 1 and 2 remasters, were all still in development, despite recent staff walkouts at Annapurna Interactive, which is partnering with Remedy on some projects.
