Summary
GTA 6 players may be able to modify the game using Roblox and Fortnite-style creation mechanics, according to an industry sources speaking to Digiday.
The idea is that fans will be able to develop and sell their own “custom experiences” in a metaverse-like move, building on the existing customisation options in GTA Online.
It is said that this could extend to featuring real-world sponsors rather than the parody brands featured in GTA 5.
This follows Rockstar’s purchase of CFX.re, the team behind the popular GTA modding framework FiveM.
It is claimed that GTA 6 is mindbogglingly expensive to make, with rumours costing upwards of $2bn, and therefore needs additional monetisation features.
