Rock, Paper, Shotgun has interviewed Brendan Greene, known for developing battle royale game PUBG, who discusses his plans for future games.
Having left Krafton in August 2021, Greene now leads PlayerUnknown Productions as an independent studio, and says he has no investors pressuring him to create a new PUBG game.
Instead, his focus is on an upcoming title Prologue: Go Wayback, a survival game which will use machine learning technology, and will release in early access this spring.
Greene states that the game is a stepping stone to another title called Artemis, which will offer larger maps and higher player counts.
Some features that made PUBG popular, such as its shrinking map, will not feature in the new title.
PlayerUnknown Productions has already released a sample of its machine learning technology in the form of Preface: Undiscovered Worlds, however, reviews for the title have been negative.
Greene states that feedback will influence the direction of Wayback, and it may introduce features such as guns and multiplayer elements in response.
