DuneCrawl’s on-foot fighting is no match for its crab walker warfare

Summary
DuneCrawl is an isometric, multiplayer action game where players explore a desert world and engage in combat both on foot and in weaponised crab walkers (‘crawlers’).
While the game offers both solo and co-op gameplay, the reviewer finds the on-foot combat sections mediocre at best, feeling sluggish and cumbersome in the style of ‘Death’s Door’.
In contrast, the combat whilst driving the mechanical crabs is a lot of fun, featuring cannons, grenade launchers and other calamitous weaponry in a manga-like style that feels frantic and humorous.
The game’s comedic elements are also heightened by the possibility of accidentally blowing teammates off the deck of a crawler and being able to fire oneself from a friendly cannon to board enemy crawlers or counter static defences.
The reviewer’s main criticisms are some performance issues and an annoying invisible boundary in the demo which ended their gameplay session awkwardly.
The reviewer would have liked to have seen more of the comedic, high-octane combat in the full release, whilst hoping that it doesn’t focus too heavily on the less engaging on-foot sections.
