Summary
Fable, a fantasy role-playing game, has been delayed by a year and will now be released in 2026, according to Craig Duncan, head of Xbox Game Studios.
Developers Playground Games require extra time to work on the game and create the world of Albion.
Duncan assures players that it will be worth the wait, and provides a preview of some in-game footage, including fighting fantastical creatures and utilising humorous peasant cooking practices.
The Fable reboot was initially announced in 2020, with comedic actors Richard Ayoade and Matt King featuring in promotional trailers.
The game will now be released four years after its initial announcement, and fans will have to wait another year to play it.
Duncan reaffirmed his confidence in Playground Games, stating that Fable will be “the most beautifully realised version of Albion you’ve ever seen”. This remains to be seen.
