GTA 5's free Enhanced PC update spoiled by missing in-game text chat, but it may only be temporary

Summary
A new enhanced version of Grand Theft Auto 5 (GTA 5) for PC has been released, including ray-traced graphics and support for AMD FSR and NVIDIA DLSS, as well as new features for GTA Online.
The update is free for existing PC owners of GTA 5, but it is not backward compatible, meaning the enhanced and old versions cannot be played together.
The new enhanced version has increased system requirements, and a new “kernel-based anti-cheat protection” function.
One of the most prominent threads across Reddit and Steam is that Rockstar Games appears to have removed in-game text chat, which differs from the “next gen” update for PS5 and Xbox, apparently with no indication from Rockstar that this is a temporary fix.
Other threads include issues migrating progression between the two versions and general dissatisfaction with the increased system requirements.
Many are using the thread to lobby for a reveal of the highly anticipated (and as yet unannounced) GTA 6.
