Summary
The Suikoden I & II HD Remaster has released tomorrow and a review has been posted giving some initial thoughts on the translation of the games.
The dialogue box has been expanded from the original games allowing more space for localization and a more “in tune” translation to the Japanese script.
The reviewer compared most of the lines to the original PlayStation script and found them to be different, although sometimes they felt the translation was “sacrificing idiosyncratic character for what feels like cautious legibility”
There are no options to toggle between the new translation and the original but the reviewer would have loved to seen this included as a way to preserve the original.
Other than this, the reviewer notes the care and attention applied to the remaster and is enjoying revisiting the two precious games. other features included galleries of music, cutscenes and concept art backgrounds.
