Summary
City building simulator Cities: Skylines has reached its 10th anniversary and to celebrate the game’s developers have released a roadmap of anniversary freebies.
The gifts include new radio stations, new content for the original game and its sequel, and a free-to-play Steam event running from March 20-24.
Cities: Skylines has had consistent updates over the last decade, while its successor Cities: Skylines 2 launched in a much rougher state a year ago.
Since the rocky launch, the game has seen some improvements, but it has yet to overtake its predecessor in popularity or reception.
To celebrate the anniversary, the Cities: Skylines developers reflected on the original game’s success, and discussed the lessons they have learned from the franchise’s community over the years.
They also acknowledged that Cities: Skylines 2’s performance shortcomings at launch were exacerbated by players’ lowered expectations for performance at launch, and thanked players for their continued feedback.
