Summary

  • Studio ZA/UM, the company behind the award-winning RPG Disco Elysium, has revealed its next game, called C4.
  • The new game is being developed over three years and is focused on espionage.
  • C4 is distinctively not a sequel to Disco Elysium and will feature no heroes, only the “stench of failure”
  • The presentation was led by Jim Ashilevi, who directed voiceover workflows on Disco Elysium and Siim “Kosmos” Sinamäe, a producer and writer for the RPG.
  • The game will have a heavy focus on failure being a mechanic for progression and is being described as “slow horses”, in reference to the espionage novel series of the same name, which is centred on a group of disillusioned, dysfunctional spies working for a British intelligence agency.
  • No gameplay was shown, but a trailer showcased eye-catching artwork and a script in a similar style to Disco Elysium.
  • There will be a second part to the presentation, to be shown at GDC later this month.
