Summary
A rumoured remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion in Unreal Engine 5 is tipped to be revealed in the coming weeks, according to insider Nate the Hate, with a potential release date of April or May 2023.
It is alleged to be developed by Virtuous, the company that worked on Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and the Dark Souls remaster.
However, a full fan remake of Oblivion in Skyrim’s engine, Skyblivion, is still slated for a 2025 release and has been in development since 2012.
While it is unlikely there is tension between the official remake and Skyblivion’s developers, Bethesda could face criticism for potentially stealing the thunder of the dedicated modding community that has been working on the project for over a decade.
Alongside the Oblivion remake, leaked documents also pointed to a Fallout 3 remaster and a Dishonored 3 announcement.
