Summary
An unexpected turn of events has seen Ubisoft confirm that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will in fact be compatible with the Steam Deck, despite previous statements to the contrary.
The game, which is set to launch on 20 April, includes minimum requirements of a GTX 1070, and it is unusual for a game requiring such high specs to be playable on Steam Deck.
It is not yet clear whether Steam will give the game its coveted ‘Verified’ stamp of approval, or if it will be classed only as ‘Playable’.
This will depend on factors such as whether the game will have perfectly workable controls and readable in-game text.
Another potential stumbling block for Steam Deck users was the game’s mandatory ray tracing, which has beenKnown Issues tempered in order to function on the Steam Deck’s less powerful GPU.
