Summary
Konami has released a trailer for Silent Hill f, a new game in the Silent Hill horror franchise developed by Hong Kong-based Neobards Entertainment.
It follows protagonist Shimizu Hinako, a Japanese schoolgirl equipped with a pipe who must navigate a terror-filled alternate realityversion of her hometown of Ebisugaoka, Japan, that is consumed by a monstrous fog and other horrors.
The game features writing from Ryukishi07, who has previously worked on the When They Cry visual novel series.
It features depictions of various controversial subjects, such as gender discrimination, child abuse, bullying, drug-induced hallucinations, torture and graphic violence.
The game’s bio-horror realm shifts include crimson roots and trumpet-shaped blossoms, in contrast to the usual rust and blood themes.
Some players have criticised the non-US setting, but the writer welcomes it as a departure after the retro fidelity of the Silent Hill 2 Remake.
It is worth noting that Neobards has barely any track record of making games, having mostly worked in a support capacity on other titles. Its only first-party release is a mobile game called Dynasty Warriors M.
