Eidos Montreal lay off 75 workers in further cuts to the Deus Ex studio

Summary
Eidos-Montreal, known for developing the Deus Ex and Tomb Raider series, has laid off 75 workers, with the company claiming it had no “capacity to entirely reallocate” the employees due to a project finishing.
The company, owned by Embracer Group, hasn’t specified what project has been discontinued, but it is known to be assisting developer Playground Games on the forthcoming title Fable.
This is the second round of redundancies at Eidos-Montreal, which let 100 employees go following the cancellation of a new Deus Ex game in 2022, and comes amid wider cutbacks at Embracer, including the reported closure of Piranha Bytes, the makers of the Gothic RPG series.
In March last year, Embracer’s CEO claimed that a process of “restructuring” was over, but since then, thousands of developers have been laid off across the company’s studios.
