esports and gaming content production company Levitate Studios is launching a remaster of the much ridiculed Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing, retitiled as 18 Wheels of Thunder.
The original game, developed by THQ, released in 2003, and is remembered for its Metacritic score of 1/10 and its hyped up, yet underwhelming gameplay.
18 Wheels of Thunder is being touted as a “remaster” and “reimagining”, featuring a new UI and simulator mechanics.
However, early reviews aren’t favourable, gaining a score of 3/10 from TechRaptor, who commented that “the game is still a shovelware title at its core and doesn’t do anything to improve on the failures of the original”.
Whether the new iteration will compete with the original’s infamous reputation remains to be seen.
