Summary
11 bit studios, the company behind the popular city-builder Frostpunk, has announced a remake of the original game titled Frostpunk 1886.
The reimagined version will be built on Unreal Engine, which will allow for mod support, a feature unavailable in the original game due to technical limitations.
The developer stated that the remake will include new content, mechanics, laws and a new Purpose path, in addition to a visual upgrade.
11 bit also announced a new, untitled larger-scale Frostpunk game slated for 2029, with the release of Frostpunk 1886 slated for 2027.
The developer is currently also working on Frostpunk 2, which has recently been in better shape after a rocky start.
Both games will evolve side by side, according to the developer.
