Summary
Respawn Entertainment, the US video game developer owned by Electronic Arts (EA), has laid off approximately 100 employees, according to gaming websites Bloomberg, Rock, Paper, Shotgun and IGN.
The company’s two incubation projects have been cancelled, and it has made “target team adjustments” across its Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi games.
Although EA did not reveal how many people were affected by the decision, it is offering those affected 30 days to find a new role within the company and is attempting to find roles for as many people as possible internally.
The company reportedly didn’t comment on how many people were impacted by the decision.
It comes after reports in March that Respawn had cancelled a multiplayer incubation project, affecting around 100 workers, who were said to have been moved to work on other titles such as Iron Man at EA Motive and Battlefield.
