Summary
Respawn, the creators of Apex Legends, have cancelled two projects alongside laying off 300-400 staff, reportedly including Titanfall titles.
One cancelled project was reportedly an FPS set in the Titanfall universe.
The announcement was made in a Bluesky post, with a reply from Diesel Knights developer Xavier B Johnson stating: “Oopsie I dropped this legally distinct fan project”.
Diesel Knights is a 6v6 mech movement shooter set in a pulp-inspired dieselpunk world, and is inviting users to sign up for an upcoming playtest.
The game is currently in pre-alpha, and is published by Philadelphia collective Keyframe Crew.
Keyframe Crew previously worked on An Otter Planet, a game about, according to Steam, “helping the space otters bring life and colour back to their newly-discovered home”.
