Death Stranding 2 is as much a rebuttal of Death Stranding's theme of connection as a sequel

Summary
Death Stranding 2, from Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima, has released previews from its On the Beach gameplay, which had featured a commentary on the game’s themes and social relevance.
Kojima discussed how the game’s concept builds on and resists the first game’s theme of connection, based on his thoughts on the Covid pandemic and dislike for the metaverse.
The developer recalled that the world had been heading towards isolation and division before the pandemic, and the message of the first Death Stranding was to “connect”, as a caution against heading down a path of disaster.
However, in the wake of the pandemic, where the internet and remote working has helped people to remain connected, Kojima now views an excess of connection in a negative light.
This change of heart has impacted his approach to press events, with an emphasis on in-person interactions rather than online events, to stress the importance of human connections.
Death Stranding 2 is set for release on 26th June on PS5, with a PC release due to follow at a later date.
