Summary
Developer Dean Hall, creator of the popular offline survival game DayZ and CEO of Icarus developer Rocketwerkz, has claimed that Unity is threatening to revoke all of Rocketwerkz’ licenses due to alleged unauthorized use of Unity Personal licences.
Hall shared an email that is allegedly from Unity, stating that the Unity Compliance Team had flagged Rocketwerkz’ account due to users using Personal licences when they should be covered by a Unity Pro subscription.
When Hall requested evidence, he was presented with email addresses that allegedly used Personal licences.
However, Hall states that two of the addresses belonged to current employees, one of whom used a Personal licence but did not work on any Unity projects at the studio, and another who was an external contractor who had previously used a Pro licence.
The alleged situation has arisen merely weeks after Unity introduced new rules regarding personal licence usage.
