Summary
Dwarf Fortress’s new Adventure Mode, giving players the opportunity to play a single character in a roguelite campaign in the Dwarf Fortress world, is now out as a free update on Steam.
It allows players to visit civilisations and ruins, earn a reputation and recruit followers, and explores mythology and magic.
Co-creators Tarn and Zach Adams said that in the game’s earliest conception, the player was meant to lose to give a sense of the “procedurally generated world and high level of simulation”, and that the entire world is now more connected and immersive through adventure mode.
The extensive combat system can now be used by players, who can also travel the world reciting poetry to wombat men, according to the Adams.
