Nvidia are pretty sure the RTX 50 series GPUs won’t melt like the RTX 4090 did

Nvidia has said it does not expect the power adapter issues that affected its GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card to be a problem with the upcoming RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 cards.
This is despite the RTX 5090 having a 575W power limit, which is a jump up from the 360W power limit of the RTX 4090.
The issue relates to a defective power adapter that could melt the plastics in the card, and whilst this was ultimately fixed, it is the redesigned adapter that has been employed in the new cards.
Stock availability for the new GPUs has, however, become a cause for concern with one US-based seller of prebuilt machines warning of limited availability for the RTX 5090 for at least three months, and a large UK-based hardware retailer stating that they have only a few hundred RTX 5080s and ‘single digit’ RTX 5090s available.
