Baldur's Gate 3 publishing director thinks GTA 6 might have the clout to normalise a $100 price tag

Matthew Ball, an analyst from firm Epyllion, has claimed that some game manufacturers believe the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6 should be priced at 80to100 in the USA, breaking the $70 barrier and increasing the price of other games in the future.
Videogames are often criticised for being too expensive, with developers facing increasing pressure to produce ever-more lucrative and sophisticated games.
Commenting on the implications of Ball’s remarks, Larian’s director of publishing, Michael Douse, argued that overall, games aren’t more expensive when factoring in economic inflation, and prices of games shouldn’t be increased simply because development costs have risen.
Douse also claimed that few people would be willing to pay an extra 20−30 for a game, and that the responsibility of developers is to ensure that the game they produce justifies the price and lives up to player expectations.
