How to set up crash detection on your Android phone
1 min read
Summary
Phone and watch gadgets have a feature called crash detection that is meant to be used in emergency situations.
When a person gets into a car crash detection activates and alerts emergency services and contacts.
The user will receive prompts on their devices and they can respond by pressing “I’m OK” or they can opt to have emergency services called and contacts alerted.
If the user does not respond, the alerts will be sent out automatically after 60 seconds.
To enable the feature on Pixel phones and watches users must follow these steps.
Open the Personal Safety app.
Tap the Features icon and select Set up under Car Crash Detection.
Toggle on Car Crash Detection and Emergency Sharing.
Specify emergency contacts.
Enable info sharing with first responders when you make an emergency call.
To enable the feature on a Pixel Watch, open the Safety or Emergency menus and select Car Crash Detection.
Emergency contacts cannot be managed from the watch, instead use the Safety app on your phone.
