Some of Google Maps lesser-known features are buried deep and aren’t easy to find unless you know where to look.
One such feature is historical Street View imagery allowing you to virtually travel back in time.
This feature isn’t available everywhere, but where it is you can see how places have changed over the years.
On a desktop web browser, simply click the small photo icon in the bottom right of the map, then look for a See more dates link in the address box in the top left.
Doing so will bring up a timeline of dates for which historical imagery is available, and you can click on any of these to take a trip down memory road.
A similar process works on Android and iOS, but the UI is slightly different.
Alternatively, you can explore historical satellite imagery using Google Earth which lets you scroll through timelines on a map to see how landscaping and urban development has changed over time.
