He Built His Own Encyclopedia. He Says Learning Everything Isn’t Everything

Summary
Software engineer, Ceasar Bautista, has been writing his own personal encyclopedia since 2013, which now comprises 3,061 articles with 3,835 images
When we spoke to Bautista in 2019, he was documenting everything he knew to ensure he never forgot what he’d learned
His philosophy around note-taking and acquiring knowledge has changed considerably since then, becoming more focused on productivity and less on collecting information for its own sake
Fifty percent of his energy goes to physical and mental health, 45% should be work and 5% for productivity apps and hacks, he says, to ensure an efficient use of time in a world where labor that is routine and not creative can be undertaken by AI systems
He’s also been using Anki flashcards to memorise information through repeated retrieval, rather than purely focusing on rote learning and note-taking
