The Trump administration is attempting to take back $20bn of funding awarded by the Biden administration for reducing air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.
It is claimed the funding was ‘parked at an outside financial institution’ and needs to be returned to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
The funding is likely to relate to the $27bn Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, created by the Biden-supported 2022 Inflation Reduction Act.
The fund is designed to prevent pollution and support clean energy projects in low-income neighbourhoods, Native and rural communities, and communities that have not previously had equal access to such technologies.
