SpaceX thinks it knows why Starship exploded on its last test flight

Summary
SpaceX has released the findings of its investigation into the explosion of its Starship spacecraft and Super Heavy booster during a test flight in January 2025.
The company said vibrations during the flight caused stress on the propulsion system’s hardware, resulting in an excess of venting capability and fuel leakage that led to an explosion.
Social media videos showed the explosion created a meteor-like shower of debris over the Turks and Caicos islands.
As a result of the findings, SpaceX has made changes to the fuel feed lines and operating thrust targets, as well as adding vents and a gaseous nitrogen purge system to the craft’s “attic” section.
SpaceX is planning to undertake its eighth test flight at the end of February, pending approval from the FAA.
