Blue Ghost has landed on the moon, making history as the first private lunar lander to do so, according to Texas-based commercial aerospace Firefly Aerospace.
The lander touched down on March 2, 100m from its target within the Mare Crisium basin.
After spending two weeks orbiting the moon, Blue Ghost will now spend a full lunar day (around two weeks) performing scientific research, such as drilling and dust mitigation experiments.
These aims to provide environmental data and test technologies that will help NASA land crewed astronaut missions on the moon.
Blue Ghost is also expected to capture high-definition images of the upcoming eclipse on March 14, when Earth will block the sun as viewed from the moon.
