Boston Dynamics is retiring its hydraulic Atlas robot and introducing a new all-electric model of its humanoid machine, the company announced on Wednesday.
The new Atlas is “small enough to wear Halloween costumes,” the company says.
It’s also able to navigate autonomously and move objects around using machine learning and an array of sensors.
In May, the company showed off Spot, a new dog-shaped robot that’s smaller and less noisy than earlier versions.
The robot is the latest in a long line of Boston Dynamics robots that have shown their skills at everything from gymnastics to parkour.
Other robots in the company’s stable include Spot, which melts copper with a handheld welder, and Handle, which the company says could be used to move boxes in a warehouse.
While the new Atlas is more portable, it may not be fit for the originally planned purpose of going off-roading.
