Hundreds of scientists accuse Donald Trump of censorship
1 min read
Summary
Over 1,900 US scientists and engineers have signed a letter expressing concern over the Trump administration’s treatment of the country’s scientific community.
The letter accusations include the administration’s attempts at censorship through suppression of data, as well as its slashing of research funding.
Universities have been strongly pressured to change policies on research, while the CDC has been “gutted”.
Over 50 universities are currently being investigated by the administration with a view to eliminating programmes that support marginalised students.
The letter’s signatories say the climate of fear in the scientific community is causing a generation of scientists to consider leaving the US.
