Greg Kroah-Hartman has written about his technique of using applied consistency to achieve long-term goals, whereby a little progress towards a goal each day prevents the build-up of resistance and allows projects to be completed more easily.
For example, he has written a script that helps him to complete a series of tasks in one-minute intervals, with a particular focus on household cleaning tasks.
Kroah-Hartman has incorporated these tasks into a state machine, which follows the completion of one-minute tasks with a voice notification confirming the next task.
The script works on a five-task completion basis, with tasks including cleaning kitchen surfaces, sorting washing, and clearing desks.
Kroah-Hartman has found that this technique helps him to keep on top of household tasks and makes it easier to get larger, less frequent tasks done.
He is also looking to incorporate the system into his questing system, which logs his daily activities and achievements.
