A developer focused on conserving power in radio communication has managed to extend range to 40km using a low-cost formula.
The antenna is a Yagi-Uda design, named after its developers, and is a directional antenna.
It requires a vertical pole in the centre of the design with parallel elements attaching to this.
Taste_the_code used 3D printing to create the central pole and a handle, then used an online calculator to determine the length of each of the parallel elements.
The entire build was then connected to a Reyas RYLR993 module.
In testing, the antenna worked at a range of 40km.
