Engineer Michael Rechtin modified a Onewheel, replacing its wheel with a track to make it capable of operating on more challenging terrain such as grass, dirt and snow.
The track was 3D printed and incorporated two rollers, with the addition of a 150mm ball bearing to support the drive motor.
The modification altered the way the Onewheel is controlled, doing away with the need to lean in order to turn, instead a wireless hand throttle was added to control the direction of travel.
While it is successfully capable of operating on more challenging terrain, the tracked Onewheel is difficult to ride and experienced issues with the tracks when turning.
The video of the modification has received over 1.2 million views on YouTube, with users commenting on the ingenuity of the design.
