A VR player called Chris has created a system which links SteamVR controllers to addressable LEDs, allowing environmental lighting to respond to controller movements.
The initiative is currently a proof of concept, but Chris intends to develop it further to directly interface with games such as BeatSaber to synchronise lighting with the game environment.
Readers have pointed out that a similar idea was published recently on Hackaday, and that there are other developments in VR worth covering.
One reader suggested a linked but simpler project, which uses a laser pointer to activate switches and gadgets.
Another suggested a more advanced version of this, in which the laser pointer can be used to control music playlists.
