The Toshiba Libretto was released in the 1990s and was notable for its small size, making it a very portable computer.
However, three decades on these laptops tend to have cases that crumble at the slightest touch, leading YouTuber polymatt to create a replacement case.
The process involved a complete teardown of the computer to scan the case on a flatbed scanner, before importing the scans to a CAD package for printing.
After multiple rounds of tweaking, the laptop was ready to be reassembled, only for the YouTuber to discover a BIOS password had been set.
This required researching and designing a PCB to short the pins on the parallel port, ultimately successfully reviving the machine.
The Libretto was an impressive machine for its time and it is still worth saving, meaning efforts like this are worthwhile.
