A YouTube maker has shared footage of their homemade tea-based laser that uses a 5,000-volt power supply to create extremely loud discharges.
While tea was used to make the laser aesthetically pleasing, it is actually - based on a transversely excited atmospheric laser that is created across a narrow gap between two electrodes and uses atmospheric nitrogen as the lasing medium.
The user, who follows on from similar builds by others, stressed that the laser is not a harmless novelty and is actually simple in concept but very dangerous.
As such, they urge others following their example to take precautions if they are to repeat the experiment.
