YouTuber Distracted by Design has attempted to recreate a classic Braun desk fan from the mid-20th century using a 3D-printed outer casing.
The original design became popular as much for its sleek looks as for its cooling ability, and the recreated version is a “2025 take” on the product.
The builder used a conventional desk fan for the internal workings and 3D printed the outer casing, making the design available for others to reproduce.
The video documenting the process includes the designer’s criticisms of the original product’s design as well as some beginner tips for those new to 3D printing.
The rebuilt fan has a cleaner look and is safer with redesigned grills and an opaque frame that prevents fingers from accidentally touching the moving parts.
