Summary

  • Jacob, from Painted4Combat, has created a Blender add-on called Resin2FDM to make 3D models designed for resin printing easier to print using filament-based FDM printing.
  • While the two models aren’t any different in terms of format, there are numerous differences in terms of the model features that can often lead to disappointing printing results when using a different type of printer to that recommended.
  • Resin printers generally use extremely fine tree-like support structures that are often too small or too weak for FDM printers.
  • Therefore, the Resin2FDM add-on allows the model and support structures to be separated and adjusted, allowing for successful printing on an FDM printer with minimal changes to the original model.
  • There is a free Lite version of the software, as well as a paid-for version with more features.
